Food safety training is a mandatory requirement for staff working in food manufacturing and hospitality environments. By law, staff who handle food, must be trained according to their level of responsibility.

Allergy Labelling Legislation
The law regarding sales of packaged and pre-packaged food has changed in recent years. Some legislation is new, such as Natasha’s Law (The Food Information (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2019), this came into force in October 2021 and changed the way that prepacked food for direct sale is labelled (PPDS). EU legislation regarding food labelling such as: Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011 is still relevant after the UK exited the EU, this is now classed as assimilated law – see attached link for useful info from the Food Standards Agency
Just to be clear about the importance of allergen labelling and ensuring you correctly tell the customer what is in their food, here is a link to the sad case of Paul Wilson who was served a meal containing peanuts, despite clearly asking for one without nuts due to allergy – Peanut curry death: Restaurant owner Mohammed Zaman Jailed.
